crazy door lock/door ajar issue

My 2005 XLT has a weird issue with the door locks & door ajar warning. The driver's door lock switch works when the truck is running, but doesn't when switched off.

If I rotate the panel illumination wheel all the way to the top detent, the dome light turns on like it should but also triggers the door ajar warning. The truck also gives random door ajar warnings at other times.

I've tried lubricating all the door switches. The passenger door lock switch and remote fob work fine at all times.

Anyone had this problem before? Thanks!

it's a common problem due to the door ajar switches wear over time, sometimes a dose of wd-40 will work. Search youtube, google or the forums here.

My driver's door switch had gone bad as well ultimately...I did the WD-40 trick and that didn't last long so I ended up getting a new switch from Ford. It was about $50 at the dealership and wasn't too difficult to replace when it came down to it. I did need to go out and buy some little hooked picks to pop the yellow clips open (around the door handle rods) but had everything else available.
