i really need some help on this one. my '03 explorer xlt is a 4.0L with auto 4x4.
the speed control has quick working. Sometimes when trying to activate the speed control, the indicator light on the dash will either come of for a second and go off or it may stay on. Either way, the speed control wont hold a speed. Sometimes when the "set accel" button is pressed, the truck will just keep accelerating even after the button is released. I have already replaced the box under the hood that pulls the cable. People have told me that its called an actuator, some have said its a servo. That didnt fix the problem though. Does anybody have a clue? Both of my instructors at my highschool auto class are master techs and they both thought it was that box. HELP! :exporange

I did a search and found this info:

Not sure if this is it or not, but it could be the Differential Speed Sensor (DSS) if so equiped that is malfuntioning or dirty connector to it.

Or

The Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM) includes the Speedometer, the Odometer, and the Trip Odometer, all of which are electronically controlled by a programmable integrated microprocessor.

The microprocessor receives a speed signal input from the Differential Speed Sensor (DSS), and uses a programmed conversion constant to convert the signal to the standard 8000 pulses per mile speed signal output. The PSOM is serviceable only as a unit.

thanks

thanks a lot, ill look into that. ill keep everyone updated
