Crushed Coolant Hose, normal?

Is the metal coolant hose that runs across the top of 5.0 motor supposed to be crushed at the bend? When I pulled my engine, I noticed mine looked messed up, so I got another one (used) and it's also crushed. I just can't think of a good reason why you would want to intentionally restrict the coolant flow.

I think it is from the bending tool used to make it. Mine is the same
This only circulates coolant to the heater core though. No worries. It does nothing for engine cooling.
