I can’t leave anything stock so of course I built a center console with all I wanted on it (gun lovers, pay attention). I removed my entire center console, designed the bottom frame rails to lay with the floor curves and line up to factory console mounting bolts.

I decided how tall I wanted it to sit, where I wanted the arm rest to be, and where to place the shifter and accessories. I mounted a winters shifter (i wrote an entire forum on the shifter alone to show how to get the winters shifter to work with the 5r55e transmission). I built the framing for the console and cut the sheet steel to fit. After mounting the shifter in place, I designed what I call the “Gun-Pop” and wired it up. After most of my time spent on the gun pop, I cut out spots for the cup holders, gauges, switches, and the hidden button for the gun pop, and where the ignition button would go (not installed yet).

Worst part of the build for me was upholstery... wrapping steel sucks because other than headliner adhesive, I could only use rivets in certain places to hold it all in, while some surfaces I could only rely on glue.. after all said and done and installed, I LOVE it! Here’s the photos I have, enjoy!

Awesome! Fantastic craftsmanship!!!

So, now, where do you hide the powder?

Very impressive. How many hours do you figure you put into building that? Some day archaeologists will find that and wonder what it was attached to.

took me a little over a month to build mostly because I only had a few hours here and there to work on it.. if I wer to guess total hours, I’d say maybe around 40-50 hours... the gun pop took the longest trying to get right.

So at a custom shop $4000-$5000 in labor minimum.

I never said I was quick, plus I was designing a lot of it as I went, having to install in, see how things fit, tack weld some stuff, take it out, weld it up, etc... now that I have a general feel for it, i would for sure build quicker if I did it again.

Besides, not a lot of custom build items/trucks are charged by the hour, but instead billed by the job.. every shop is different. I would never charge someone 40+ hours for something like this, especially when aftermarket companies sell mass produced stuff for cheap. This is just nice to have it built how I want it, and have the accessories I want and where I want them.
