If you had the premium sound system stock make sure the power wire for the amp is hooked up, which i believe is the blue w/ a white stripe?

if you used a wiring harness to tap into the explorer's pre-existing wires then it should be just matching colored from the head unit to the colored wire harness then the wire harness should just plug into the connector that came out of the old radio.

No wire harness. It didnt fit. So im splicing. I didnt know i had an amp!! FROM the radio there is 2 BLUE wires. Do I plug them both to the 1 BLUE wire FROM the TRUCK?

I ran into the same problem, i bought the regular harness, they sell one for the premium sound system, which i returned and bought the correct one. There is a thread somewhere saying what all the colors are on the explorers harness. Most of my wires are spliced because i removed my amp, but i cant remember what is what off the top of my head.

Go to crutchfield and get a wire harness plus the dash kit for it.

"2) Premium Systems use a 4X20 Watt Premium Radio (AM/FM/Cassette, AM/FM/CD, or AM/FM/Cass/CD) with 4 speakers the amplifier was external from 1990 through 1997; integrated into the radio from 1998 through 2001"

Found that on another thread, so you dont have the external amp like i have, so the diagram i used wouldnt work, i cant seem to find it either. Go to autozone or walmart now that you have it apart and have seen what you need and look at the plugs they have to see if they would fit before buying them. I ended up at best buy to get mine for the premium sound system.

Thats where I went. Dash kit works fine. Wire harness didnt. So i returned it

You might have gotten the wrong harness or the previous owner cut & spliced..

I cant give you any answers but just advice, do not rush into anything. Dont hook it up if you dont know its right. You may just need to take it to a shop anyways... You will end up catching your dash on fire
