Cybergasm's truck down...

its beginning to sound like you have a short in your main wiring loom under the dash which still could be fuseable link issue. You need to trace wires between key/computer port and ign/computer. As someone once told me electricity is very logical start where you know its gone wrong and trace back to where it is right.

...thats the direction i was heading on monday when we started taking the dash apart...he had a wire smoking and i was hoping to find it before it burnt into two but time was running out...as you know, harness's can be time consuming under the dash...
...i do hope he gets it fixed in the next week though, the main divide rd. will take on a tour theme if the fire ever gets put out...

Welp i just reuturned from the auto parts store pick up some maxi fuses

installed one in the EEC relay port and it still starts and runs did'nt blow the fuse this time :dunno: hook up multi meter to the output side of the fuse to see if there a power surge going thru and nothing everything is normal.

guess it time to take everybodys suggestions and bust open the wiring loom
and start tracing wires  oh yeah this is gonna be fun;)

after this is all done i guess i'll be ready to claim the title of Electrical/EEC guru:D

Shh don't tell the one posting here is of the female kind he he he Just been through way tooooooo many race car/street car dilemmas. Learn as you go and never forget!

...hey, it's "SWEET THING", lmao...;)...
...you only have to dig thru a dash wiring harness to know you don't want to do it again...

As i am finding out right now been digging for the last couple of hours and nothing yet:( although the truck still starts and runs fine now

hmmm might start looking for electrician anyways i am running out of ideas here might put this POS back together and take it on some short trips to see what happens:dunno:

...did you get AAA yet...:D

...did you get AAA yet...:D

nah I figured I would call you if I need AAA again :D:D

but really I will get it been needing it for years but right now i can't afford it since i am still suffering a financial hangover from truckhaven and the breakdown and the towing:rolleyes:

but on some better news like I said earlier the truck is running drove it alittle while ago to Home Depot and back with no problems just have the check engine light on constant and no Stereo (?) don't think the 2 can be related
but then again who knows it was working before the truck quit running and now it not have to look into that soon.

kinda funny tho that i hopped in the truck drove off and the first time i stepped on the brakes and the thing veered sideways i was like Oh yea i forgot about the brakes and the missing shock i need to fix those still.:D

....it could be they tied the stereo and/or the memory from the stereo into an, other than radio power source...i had to find that on one of my trucks as they screwed up the wiring when they put my stereo and alarm in...you may be able to pull the radio and see if thats where the problem is at...

Well Ladies and Gentlemen I think I have the cause of my problem......

My buddy calls me up and asks me if i wanted to go lunch i said ok but i am comin in the Escort ekk convince me to take the X instead. So i am headed towards his place and I hop on the fwy.

I take off from a dead stop down the ramp.....1st gear....2nd gear......3rd gear......uhhh 3rd gear....no shifting into overdrive and or t/c lockup!

so once i arrived at my buddies place i dive under the truck and take a look at the trans wiring to find out that the harness had come loose and is melted/shorting against the header!!!!

so i now have a new used harness from thr junkyard and i am gona install it on Wed. after i get back from work

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will solve my problem
well see on wednesday.......

good luck! Lets hope this is the problem!

The verdict is in...
Well it's good news bad news

The Good: Got the harness installed and now have my OD back and routed the harness Correctly  so it off the header and other heat sources.

The Bad: still have the CEL coming on and staying on and i cannot get the code reader to read the computer still getting "vehicle not responding"

Hmmm now i am thinking the computer might have suffered some damage over the shorting burning wire harness.

still got one thing left to fix tho i have to replace the O2 sensor since it has burned against the headers also. luckily i have a few spares of those:D

ohh discovered something else too my RABS is leaking too was always wondering why i had a sinking brake pedal and no leaks at the wheels.;)

any who....... heres a photo of the carnage.......

...at least you are home and have places to get parts from...i hope you find the problem soon...also, i wonder if your chip is any good and if the burning smell with key on is still coming thru the vent...

Dunno right now i am not running the chip at all just trying to get the problem figured out first then worry about the chip later.

nahh have'nt been smelling anything lately in the vents:thumbsup:

and of course i have that wonderful place called Pick-A-Part:D
for all my parts sourcing needs.

Update

Well it looks like i am going to be searching a another Computer since replacing the wiring harness only solved part of the problem with the no O/D

drove it to work last night on the fwy and it shifted into O/D but i did not notice it lock up the converter or maybe it did an i did not notice. but it seems the the RPMs were higher than normal.

before all this happened it would run about 2k RPM's with the converter locked up. And now it it like 2500 RPM's and jumps to 3k with you step on it to downshift it out of O/D.

Update 2

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:bounce::bounce::dpchug:

I finally have my problems solved and the old girl is back to normal now.
running the way it was before all this mightmare happen.

Today my Computer brain arrived after it's week long trek across the country.
Put it in and started it up and she was purring again took it out for a road test including the fwy :D No Check Engine light! have the O/D again and the TQ is locking up again

like i said everything is back to normal......finally:biggthump

Well thanks to everyone for their input

Congrats man! you gonna make it out thanksgiving weekend?

Its about time that its back to normal..

Glad its fixed
