D44 into a D35??

I was reading somewhere - I thought it was here - that the IFS Dana 44 gears and axles could go into the Dana 35 case. Anyone heard this before? Not that I have time this week to even think about it - but it sounds interesting, seeing as here in Florida the only rock-crawling we do is through 70 million-year-old rocks that when wet resemble mud!

Nope - nice try, but D44 gears are bigger than D35 gears. I think the axles are the same diameter, though. I know both axles use the same u-joints.

Currie was cutting down D44s to fit in the Explorer/Ranger, but I don't think it was a cost effective upgrade.

Who is Currie, and can they make a D44 work in the front of a '99 Exploder?

currie is a well respected co. that does some awesome but pricey stuff
