hey guys, im putting a dana 44 high pinion front end out of a 78 pick up in my 92 explorer and i cant find coil springs that are big enough for it, do any of you guys know where i can order some from and is there anyway i can get a spacer to go into my radous arm brackets to push the radous arms forward about a half an inch? if any one out there that can help me i would be very gratefull thanks
welcome to the site, I would say you can play around with your radius arm bushing mounts if you are only looking to gain 1/2" of forward movement on your radius arms, probably a washer or two in the right spot will need to be used and there should be enough thread to do that.
yea i only need to go forward about a half an inch and i need to find at least 8 inch full size lift springs and i cant find them anywhere so i guess my best bet would to have them custom made from a spring shop, any one know if i have to change my computer if i drop out the auto tranny for a 5 speed, some people have told me i do and some have told me i dont? any ideas???
i was going to start with 35s and see wut its like, i have a 302 with 12.5/1 compression that im going to put in it when the motor gets tired but i did the strate axel swap on it myself and with 2.5 lift springs out of a f150 the front end only sits about 3 inches higher than it did stock
what coil buckets did you use? I used the F150 coil buckets on mine and I moved them down a good 3" from my original spot that I had them mounted. The longer the spring the better in some cases, but there can be overkill.
Any chance you can post some pics of your setup so we can help you out. If you're not elite the easiest way is to set up a free account at photobucket and then link them here.
yea i have alot of pictures but im going to have to do as u said and make a photo bucket thing and as soon as i do i will post the url on here thankx for the help, i wish i thought of moving the coil buckets lower! never even thought about it, good idea though
ok i got a bunch of pictures from my old jeep, my old mustang, and lots of my explorer from the first day i got it with gay 18 inch rims till now so have a look and tell me wut u think, i havent touched the rear end yet but its next. http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff166/dylon83/ check it out!
I would go with a 6.5" coil (prefferebly progressive rate) for a good ride and excellent flex, if it is not high enough then, i would try to lower the buckets down a bit...
Other than that it looks good man, nice stang and nice other half
