I have a 91 XLT 4x4. I need new gears for the front diff. How do I tell if it is a reversed gear or not before tearing it apart?

For you, yes :). For the 95+, then no.

The term is a misnomer and its not actually reversed gear, its just the pinion has been moved up above the centerline and the teeth are cut so that the gears contact on the proper side of the ring gear (which makes the whole thing stronger).

Thanks, nthat's what I thought too. I'm having a hard time locating a 410 gear set for it at a desent price. Any suggestions?

Over and over again. The best deal of only 2 that I have just found is $229 at summit racing (precision gear) Randy's had a Yukon but for $340 I can step up to a 4:56 front and rear. So unless I find a better deal, I'll stick with Summit.

oops
