Dana 44 Knuckles on Dana 35 TTB

@410Fortune I know that the 4.5" lug/stud pattern is not the strongest one as other larger diameter patterns, however if someone wanted to keep the 4.5" pattern for now, is there a 4.5" rotor, say off of a last century Dodge truck 4wd, that could be used on this conversion?

The locking hub is too big diameter to fit through the center of the smaller bolt pattern wheels

So, the Dana 44 hubs are bigger around than the Dana 35, that makes sense. Thanks for the information.

Jeeps had a Dana 44 front end with a 5 on 4.5 bolt circle did they not? Not sure if they had lockout hubs on those models of jeep wrangler and Cherokee

They had unit bearings by then.

The earlier ones were 5 on 5.5

Well there you go you can convert to unit bearings and no lockouts !! Hhahaha no thanks

Right?!?!?

I'm going to do this knuckle swap soon. If I get any slop, I might experiment with a speedi sleeve on the bushing. Also has anyone tried these new Mevotech "Xtreme" balljoints? Desolate Motorsports sells these to go with their Bronco D44 beams?

I saw those ball joints right after i had the ac delco already installed, desolate has them overpriced. The sleeve won’t be needed. Just tighten the pinch bolt itll do it.

I currently have the AC Delco blue boots on my 35, they’ve been good. I might just stick with those for the 44 upgrade.

The ac delco / raybestos blue boots are good ball joints

I keep hoping Dorman premium hd will be made for this application, but it’s still not

Motorcraft joints are available they would be good here on a budget
Otherwise there are racing type
Rebuildable ball joints but they are $$$$$

Upgrading to Dana 44 ball joints opens up a whole new world of possibilities
