I'm in the midst of a kitchen remodel by Explorerforum's very own TBars4.
I have lived in my place since I was 23, purchased it when I was 25, now 4 years later I have done several improvements, some haven't been as good as others.
One thing I'm glad I never touched yet was the kitchen except some destruction. Trim pieces continue to break off some past billy-bob add-ons from the past owners.
It was school bus yellow when I moved in there and I had some generic 12"x12" white tile but that changed a few years ago. I put a "pergo" fake wood floor throughout the house that does the trick but it leaves a little to be desired.
Originally the house had additional walls and a different style kitchen. One of the past owners had taken out some walls and cabinets opening up the view but limiting the storage. Also there was this strange gap that I threw a couple of trash cans in to cover it up, but it never made much sense. The island that was in place didn't match the other cabinets but being a young bachelor I didn't really care.
I had some issues with underground plumbing and broken drain lines so last year I had a nice big hole jackhammered in the floor right in front of my dishwasher and I also have had new copper pipes throughout the house to get rid of the old galvinized pipes.
The kitchen was always on the list for a "gut out" and start over remodel but I just don't want to make that kind of investment. I sent Ted some pics and he had a few ideas in mind.
Here is where it started, school bus yellow was not good in person even though the pics make it look all DIYnetwork cute.
and phase one began
Here's some of the issues that I had
here is the view when you walk in my front door
As much as I would have loved a complete tear down, Ted is pumping life into this thing, stay tuned for the "after."
