Dealer installed Class 1 Hitch

Here's my take on a hitch for your Explorer:
Always, ALWAYS go for the class III hitch. Even though you may not ever need its capacity having the larger receiver (2"X 2") will result in a more secure mounting for your bike rack or cargo carrier.

Besides the wiring and the hitch what else comes with the Explorer towing package. I would hope a tranny/oil cooler and higher output alternator but can't find that info online.
Tranny cooler I can see but alternator? With the led lighting these days where is the load to justify hundreds of dollars in parts and labor.

Agreed. I see no real benefit to a higher amp alternator, unless the factory is undersized as it is. Usually not an issue with Ford.
