2001 mounty
Did the whole nine today. (keep in mind i am an ASE master technican).
i just wanted to let everyone know how the process went.

i have a 2001 mountaineer, first was the springs.....i planned on swapping
the pass. for the driver, so i dropped the springs completely to do this...

once the springs were off, i cut off the strap holding the spring pack together.
then i grinded the head of the center bolt off and smacked with a hammer a
few times, once the spring pack center bolt was out i put in the add a leaf.
and put everything together with the bolt provided with the kit, NO CLAMPS
NEEDED.....(this is why the bolt is "too long"..) once the bolt is in, tighten it
until the pack is tight...WHAALAA....

springs went back together 1....2....3....and of course i put on the warrior153s.

after the rear, i went to the torsion bars, and turned each one 6 complete turns
to match the lift on the rear, (being just slightly lower than the rear)

i ended up getting 3 whole complete inches in the rear, and 2.25 in the front.
and it leveled the rear sag perfectly.

now the body lift.....i pretty much did the same thing as the other guys on
the board, so ill cut it short and just tell you some of the problems i ran into.

1.....most of the bolts are too long (or the threads are not long enough)
2.....the radiator mounts were the biggest pain in the ass.
3.....the front bumper brackets DID NOT WORK. (lower valiance in the way)
sacrificing your factory fogs, if equipped
4.....the rear bumper brackets DID NOT WORK. (completely wrong.
5.....i DID NOT have to drop anything other than the radiator, and the steering
shaft, everything else (ground straps, trans linkage, brake lines, air intake
filler neck WAS NOT TOUCHED) and everything was perfectly FINE....

now this was simply MY experience with the 883BL, i would assume different
years and models will be different.....this was just MY experience on my 2001
mounty;....

i hope this will help any one considering the mods i have done

and good luck

Pictures!

You had better luck than I did. I had stuck bolts, ruined body mounts, bushings that refused to cooporate...... Even if I didn't have a second car and my pace wasn't slowed because of this as a luxury, I still wouldn't have been able to knock it out in a day- or even a weekend. Maybe if I had all the extra parts that I didn't know I'd need when I started (extra bushings, new body mounts, different bolts....) I could have done it in a weekend.

i wouldnt say i didnt have the usual problems.....seized bolts, spinning bushings.

but like i said, getting the radiator to cooperate was the biggest PITA.
maybe this is only with the 5.0s, as i havent really herd much complaining
about the rad mounts and mounting.

all in all, the whole job......add a leaf, shackles, tt, and 883 took me from
10:30 to 4:00 to complete........and this was WITHOUT raising the bumpers.
old lady was hounding me to come inside, so the bumpers will be another day.
i did however take the front bumper off, and see that the brackets WILL NOT
work, unless you 86 the lower valience, or groove it out, at the very least.

Yes, as we all say, if no pictures, then it didn't happen, LOL.

i finally have some pics for you sir....haha.......
(just got a new camera this weekend)

tell me what you guys think....i very happy with the results, and could have
never did it without the help of the board....

thank you SERIOUS EXPLORATIONS....

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: I like.

So what did you end up doing to raise the bumpers?

thanks man....

i ended up using the front bumper relocation brackets that came with the
883 kit, i just simply elongated the slots with a grinder and it worked well.
(very soild)...

the rear.....i had to COMPLETELY manufacture a set of brackets to raise
the rear bumper.... (which also worked well)...

very happy with the truck..... its a joy to drive.

what all did you use for your lift? can you name all the parts you used

what all did you use for your lift? can you name all the parts you used

lol....did you read the title of the tread?????

i did the body lift, shackles, tt, spring swap, double add a leaf with 35s.

ground to fender measurments are 43in. in the front, and 44.5in in the back
she started out around 32, 33in with alittle rear sag, everything worked out.

:salute:

Very nice! I have the same setup in my 2 door. I wheel with another member that has the superlift kit and I actually have better ground clearance whit this setup! With the superlift kit you lower the cross members and torsion bar mounts so the get hung up on everything. I had all of the exact same problems you did by the way!

what add a leafs did you use ? did you just stack them on top of each other or ? And what do you mean spring swap?

i did the procomp "long" and "short" leafs 100bux total for both sets
pretty much gave me 3inches....and i put them in the order they go...

and i swapped the right and left leaf packs while i had them down.
it fixed the "drivers side lean"....

hope this helps you....what do you plan to do with your x???...
