Did Ford Ever Fix Guides,5r55e?

Did Ford ever fix the poor guide design. Obviously it has been an issue that has made life miserable for lots of people. What year is safe?

Next issue is the 5r55e, in 2002 design changes made it far less reliable than it ever was. Does anyone know if it was ever redesigned again to make it reliable?

This would be valuable information for anyone that is looking for a newer Explorer like myself. I'm looking to upgrade from our 98 sohc.

i would go 04 or 05 if you're looking for something updated. you hear less guide problems with them i believe.

they used the 5r55w and 5r55s for the 2002-2005 models and possibly newer. not the 5r55e.
