I read in this forum where the whining in the rear end is probably the R&P. Mine also sounds like it's grinding rocks on slow turns. What would be the cause of this wonderful noise.

I have recently had the number 7 plug to blow out and I fixed it with a kit from Time-Sert which worked great.
I replaced all four wheel bearings after being advised by several people that the noise I was hearing was the wheel bearings (not).

I'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to buy a remanufactured rear end instead of trying to rebuild it, if this is were the rock gringing noise is coming from.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Its probably the diff bearings or the clutch packs going...I would take it to a local drivetrain repair facility and have them look at and give you a quote...in the meantime change the diff gear lube with full synthetic and add some friction modifier.
