dimming light on digital odometer

the odometer on my 2002 explorer is digital and most of the time not bright enough to read.. has anyone experienced this problem, and what was the fix... thanx pippo047

Welcome to this forum! Did you adjust the dimmer wheel? Maybe some of your dashboard light bulbs might be burned out?

A very dim or totally blank digital odometer in a 1999 - 2003 Explorer is usually caused by a cracked solder joint on a circuit board attached to the back of your instrument cluster. Ford dealers charge around $600 to fix this problem. If you can use simple hand tools and follow easy step-by-step repair instructions, you can fix it yourself for free.
