Disabling door chime?

Hi! I have a '97 Explorer, and was wondering if I could/ how hard it is to disable the infamous door chime. I want to get rid of the beep when the doors are opened, and the startup chime. But I want to keep the one that sounds when the keys are out and the headlights are on, as well as the one when the key is in the lock/off position and the door is opened. Is this possible? Or do I have to disable the chime completely? Thanks!

check your owner's manual. i know there's a procedure in mine for disabling the seat belt chime, but i don't know about the others.

OT do this you may need a Ford Factory scan tool, or a very good aftermarket one, like an OTC scan tool. you can enable, and disable many things, but if they are there for safety, you most likely will not be able to disable them.
