Disc Brake Dust cover

hey guys, Can i get by removing the front disc brake shield or dustcover ,on my 99 Sport? I live on a dirt road and keep getting rocks stuck between disc and shield.

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Better to have it lodged in that spot than your rotor and caliper. Picture shattered rotor, and trying to stop. You might want to close the gap on it a little, that should help. Tap it in with a rubber hammer/mallet.

iam not talking big rock,pea gravel,little stuff. if it was any closer i think it would rub the disc. i,ve never had any issues on older rigs that ran the disc exposed.......i just did,nt want to take them off if they have a greater purpose.

No other greater purpose. Its only three small bolts holding it on there. Its only there to keep the crap out.
