HI, I have a 98XLT and just changed my plugs and wire. I used Motorcraft double platnium and Jacob wires. Someone mentioned that I should disconnect my battery for at least 10 minutes afterward so the computer can relearn and adjust to the new plug and wires. Is this necessary? What would happen if I don't?

I have 68K miles on the car and the plug/wire I swap out where the orginals.

Nothing bad if you don't, but the computer will stay with it's old air/fuel ratio setting in the CPU. Disconnecting the CPU makes it " re-learn " the settings. Doing this after plugs/wires isn't a bad idea, but if you clean the IAC and MAF , it's a must so it can learn the settings on a " clean " ( no debris or gunked ) sensor...

I have never disconnected the batery to do a plug change.
