Do MOST blown trannies have BURNT fluid?

I've always wondered this...when a transmission blows, is the fluid USUALLY, or almost ALWAYS burnt?

I think it's amazing that Glacier says on most tear-downs the bands have most of their friction material left.

I think it depends on how the tranny "blows".

If it's from overheating, than yea, it's gonna have burnt fluid.

If something simply broke, the fluid could be fine.

Firction does play a major part of the wear, but parts still wear out even at a normal temperature. Check # 8 in my list of useful threads for more information.
