'99 Explorer - I'm replacing the upper control arms. On the driver side, there's a cam bolt for both bushing ends of the arm. They were both in the vehicle with the cam end toward the shock tower. However it's a huge pain to try and reinstall that way, particularly on the rear bolt due to interference from the fuel and brake lines.

Does it matter which way the cam bolt is installed? I.e. cam front or cam rear?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, there was one small bolt holding a fuel line (or some other hard line) in place just forward of the UCA. After removing that and gently moving the other lines around there wasn't much problem, although still tight.

If you replace the stock welded cam bolts with aftermarket ones where the cam plate floats on the bolt everything is MUCH easier to put back together. Plus the aftermarket ones generally allow for more adjustability.

Do it right the first time so you won't have to do it again or pay your alignment guy to do it!

Good Luck,
