Hey all,

I was just wondering if this looks like an oil leak? It's coming from where the axle meets the rear differential. The metal pinkish part with the blue circle was after I rubbed off some of the residue with my finger but I'm not sure if it's oil.

Should I worry about it? Also, if so, how does one change the rear differential fluid on this car and change the seal where the axle meets the diff? Thank you.

That's not anything I personally would worry about. The seal around the shaft is still a rubber seal and a little tiny bit will get out. If the whole underside of your differential is "wet" than that is something I would worry about. I can't speak for exact procedure for the Explorers but typically in order to change the diff fluid you have to unbolt the rear cover of the diff and pull it off. There should be a fill plug on the side or top of the housing to refill (this is how my F150 is at least and how I changed my fluid).
