I have been looking around for alittle bit now and I have not gotten a straight answer.
I am looking to put two signle DIN units in my 1998. I have heard about combining two kits to get it to work and also cutting the dash.
Now what I want one kit that will hold the two single units and also have a trim ring that does not need any cutting. I hope there is one and thanks for helping.

I don't believe anyone makes a kit for a dual din install. Also, I believe it would be impossible to install 2 dins in the hole without cutting.

well if that is true that it can not be done with no cutting and stuff than what kit would i use and also where can i find a trim ring that looks good.

Thanks again.

Do a search for "double din" , There is alot of good posts related to your question.

I got your email I am working on it. You are going to have to do some cutting because a "true double din" is 100 mm, but your stock opening is 91mm. Give me a day to complile everything and you will be set.

Yeah, there isn't a way to do this without some modification.

Sorry this took so long. First of all, it is not as hard as you might think. I don't think I was the first to do it, I was the first to post pictures of doing it. I did alot of fiddling around trying to make it work. First of all your opening is only 91mm but a DIN is 50 mm, so two DINs are 100mm. There are 2 lips one on the top and the second on bottom, this lip stops the factory unit from sliding too far back. These will have to be removed. I used a small saw blade mounted on a sawzall and cleaned it up with a file. A word of advice take your time and remember that the blade is going in one side and coming out the other. I didn't worry about what was on the other side and I scratched my bezel around the radio pretty bad. The E-Chassis should come with your new radio. That is the metal chassis that the radio will mount in. The mounting kits will work, but here is the problem, Since your opening is only 91mm and a double DIN is 100mm, the kit will mount behind bezel, flush with the back side of the lip. Then your HU/EQ/TV will mount behind that. I think it looks bad with your HU/EQ/TV mounted 2" behind the dash. So, I mounted the E-Chassis just like you would if you were only mounting a regular HU and mounted my second unit to it. That solved my mounting problems, now to make it look good. I had these gaps around the unit, so I cut the top and bottom off the Metra kit and JB welded them to the bezel to cover the gaps. May not be the best way to do it, but most people think it looks pretty tight.

SAcosche (www.scosche.com) makes the kit you need. I used it to mount a double DIN Kenwood in my Ex, but it comes set up to mount two single DIN units as well. The part number is FD1330. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

Yeah I tried that kit, also. It will work but your HU will be farther back in the dash.

Anyone have any pics of what the Scosche double-din kit looks like installed? I'd be buying one now if I was sure it looked good...

I'd shoot a picture of mine, but my camera is curently back with the fine folks at Canon being fixed after I gave it a little saltwater bath. I'll try to borrow one and post a pic on here for you, though.

I'd like

To see the pic. I have a pioneer 7" LCD motorized screen and i'd like to put the din dvd player underneath.

Just want to make sure it fits with the double din kit.

Thanks again.

Well like i said before NOTHING is just gonna fit perfect outta the box. Our opening is 91mm and a DIN is 50, so 2 DIN's are 100mm +/-. You are gonna have to do some minor trimming. If you want a true Double DIN, go buy a chebbie.
