Double Stick Tape Doesn't Stick???

I have tried to use double stick tape on the interior surface of my 2011 Explorer without any success.

It has not been a matter of it came loose over time, it simply does not stick no matter what I do or where.

Is anyone else having this same issue?

It really stinks because I wanted to put a mount up on my dash for my cell phone, but cannot. I also bought these really nice speaker rings for the doors and they will not stick.

Anyone have any ideas???

Clean well with alcohol before using it. I haven't had the problem, but I use the 3M tape. My mount has stuck quite well.

Better luck then me. I used the 3M tape, same stuff I use on safety chrome on my motorcycle, and alcohol and still just won't stick.
