Dre is "Back in the game"!

Silly me... sold my 94 Sport about 9 months ago. I knew right away that I won't be able to stay away from the Explorer world too long. I'm back in the game with my newly acquired 1992 EB. She's in shambles but I'm ready to bring her back to life!!! Here's one pic of how bad she looks right now... more pics later when she makes it into my back yard and into my garage for a total makeover.

Was it free? :p

So you're gonna burn it and sell the ashes to make a payment on a new Explorer? :D

What the hell did they do to it?

It's actually the worst possible side of her. She's not really that bad looking. 95,000 miles. Everything else is OK except for some "improvements" made by some home grown mechanic. Someone took the front end apart, took radio out including bazel that goes around the dash, ripped hood prop out, stole radiator cap etc. etc. etc.
Really, the worst part is the front suspension. It's where most of the damage is. You can't see it in the picture but the wheel is pushed against the inner fender. Radius arm bracket is broken off. Some idiot hit a concrete barier. As long as the frame is OK I plan on installing a Skyjacker lift with longer radius arms and Perry's front end. No biggie - seen worse.

Got it for $355.00 exactly.

Damn thats pretty ugly looking....but good luck too you! I would never take on a feet like that...I've since worse also...in a junk yard where it belonged.

She's in the back yard now. Finally got a chance to look her over during daylight. There are more issues than just the front. It sort of looks like someone got up and walked on the roof. Dent around the moonroof can be pushed-up though (leaks for sure). Broken windshield (hammer?) can be replaced. I need to get the front suspension torn apart so I can see if there is frame damage. I would prefer to track straight even though this truck will be used for wheeling most of the time. Front suspension is no biggie, done that, front end and fenders, no biggie, done that, engine bay back together no biggie, done that. What else is ahead? have no clue at this time. I should be able to take some more pictures later and post them to my gallery.

Project just started.

I wish ya the best of luck! Turn that ugly duckling to a beauty queen!

I have faith in you Dre... every other "project" you have done turned out to be awsome rigs so I'm sure this one will too.
Instead of the Skyjacker route, give the custom lift brackets and suspention parts Joel H makes a look.

I've heard good things about the parts. If you need some custom work let me know cause I got a good friend who owns a 4x shop two hours from me up in WIS. He does great work and is always looking for new things to work on. I'll PM you his info... ;)

Hey andre, I've got my whole setup in my backyard. I'm talking Skyjacker 6" lift, coil springs spacers, Dana 35 TTB with a few little issues but still has 4.56 gears in the pumpkin, basically my whole front end (including parts I bought from you) are still here. My lift brackets are cracked, but it could be welded or returned to Skyjacker for correct replacement. Let me know if any of this stuff will do you any good. Only have stock radius arms with drop brackets.

He does great work, he's just a grumpy old *******. :p

I'm gonna keep this thread going as a sort of a diary. I have taken plenty of pictures of my last two projects but never have I wrote a full blown diary of everyday progress. So far I might be even entertaining a tought of going with solid front axle??? need to replace front end anyway so might as well...

I love restoration projects like this. Sounds like the start of a great trail rig. Good luck Dre.

Yeah, go with the SAS. Looks like a lot of work ahead of you, but I'm sure it'll turn out really nice for the trails.

Bad news... IMO she's not going to hit the road again. Sorry. Not in this form. I did some checking and measuring today... even quick visual inspection revealed problems with the frame. Frame is tweeked on the passenger side, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch to the inside. Two of the body mounts that are right under the doors are bent. I'm gonna start parting her out to get my money back. Might even keep some parts for myself. If I had a bigger lot I would keep the truck for future needs. For now,

RIP :thumbdwn:

Thats too bad, but at least you know you can get your money back and probably a little more from parting her out.
You could combine this one

and the one you got and make something. ;)

Please buy it before he bumps it again and gets Splashman's fab buddy upset.
