Hi guys.
In 3 days I plan to cross the Andes with my truck from Montevideo Uruguay to Argentina and then Santiago de Chile .
1900 km to go.
So I’ve sent the X to do full brakes schneck and repair, front bearings, and rear trans orings ( I don’t know the name in English)
Today y see a small “ lake”, under the steering column.
I need to repair it asap, ( a mechanic is going to do it, I have no time because the work).
Here a video showing the column.
Any tip on we’re can be the problem is appreciated, as any tip for the easy way to dismantle it so i can translate it to the mechanic.
Thanks all for your comments!

Fabian

Look for video of Ford steering gear rebuild on YouTube. I tried to link one but failed.

I'm pretty sure the steering box gear is removed from truck to fit new seals, I reckon work from top and bottom will be required.

If you don’t have time to rebuild or replace the gearbox, try this product if you can find it in your country. I used it for years.

Txs Ranger, I’ve found a liqui Molly equivalent. Seems a good product. I’ll keep in mind that. Thanks for the tip!!
It’s sure than I can’t pospone the travel.
My son is playing in Santiago de chile a South American coup of handball, representing my country and I need to be there! And I will!

hello Ranger x
The mechanic told me that he doesn’t have time to dismantle and repair in 24 hours
So I need to go with the stop leack solution for 10 days.
Any tip in how to apply? How do you do it?
I’m a little affraid but I’ll check the level and bring fluid with me to to up.
Sounds crazy but I don’t want to lower the arms just before the trip starts…..

You just add it to the power steering fluid reservoir, using it instead of the regular fluid. I kept the bottle in my truck and would add more whenever the level got low. It may not stop your leak 100%, but should slow it down at least, if your product is as good as the Lucas brand.
