Drivers side power door lock switch on the wife's 98 XLT locks but will not unlock. Passenger side door lock switch operates all the locks normally. I have tried replacing both the drivers side and passenger side door lock switch but that did not fix the problem. Read the posts relating to bad door wiring but was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and found a solution.

I would replace the door lock actuator, since you already replaced the switch. I doubt it is the wiring.

that happened to mine when i removed my alarm.... maybe a wire got knocked lose? the unlock on it wouldnt work on either the driver or passenger side... but the driverside wouldnt lock either.... however, the passenger side, would lock all the doosr......

Check your wiring... You might have an open circut in the driver door wiring.

My X is doing that exact thing with the drivers door and I was told by a Ford mech. that is was the actuator.
