Anyone take there explorer on the beach? I'm going to be getting the beach pass and I have a 03 xlt v6 with some all terrains on it. Wanted to know how the vehicle has handled the sand and if its really necessary to let some air out of your tires. My friend has a grand cherokee and he doesnt air down and he gets through the sand no problem

You should be fine doing a little sand driving, airing down is probably only needed if its very deep and soft sand, just test it out and be cautious at first to get a feel for it, and until you are used to the depth and sinking tendancies of the sand, make sure to not spin out.

Air down if you don't you will get stuck maybe not right away but it will happen. Drop tires to 15-18 pounds.I have done a lot of driving on beaches here most are soft.I got stuck once and it was due to not airing down.It also makes a mess and extra stain on the truck it works harder.Good luck don't forget all you equipment
