I was wondering if anyone had ever done a dual exhaust job on a 1995 year Explorer 4dr with a Class 3 receiver hitch?

What I wanted to do was basically the same job I have done on my 91 Ranger: a cat-back one pipe in, two pipes out Flowmaster series 50 muffler and two separate pipes with chrome echo tubes, running out under the back bumper. The Ranger sounds REAL good and several people have actually asked me if I had a v-8 in it! It has a nice, low bubly rumble to it that is a bit loud, but not offensive or obnoxious.

I know the space on the back of the Explorer is tight underneath, but could I run the two pipes out the sides, behind the rear tire (kinda like the stock pipe location...except one pipe on each side?)? That may solve the clearance problem with the receiver hitch...wouldn't it?

Is there enough room for a two pipe set-up with the hitch and spare at all, or am I doomed to one-in, one out muffler setups?

Sorry, I have no plans to scrap the hitch (I actually use it) or remove the spare tire to another location, but I'd love to have a nice low rumble to the Explorer, like my Ranger.

...any suggestions?

Thanks!

PS- several local shops say they can't do it (same thing they told me on my Ranger 4 years ago!), but one shop said he had done it before and could do mine, all welded, for 300 bucks...sound fair?

Absolutley. i have them exiting behind the rear wheels at an angle. i have the flowmaster 40 with a y pipe and 4" tips. i love the sound of mine. it sound slike you have it planned out. oh ya i have the hidden hitch class 3 reciever.

this a link to a thread where we discussed it to death and i put a sound file up of my pipes rumbling.

oh ya i paid about $300 but that included the staniless steel tips

I have a 99, and mine looks and sounds great. I wanted it to sound like my Mustang so I purchased 2 Flowmasters from a Mustang mag, and had a local muffler shop weld them in place and exit split rear. The mufflers cost $140 for the 2 of them and the muffler shop charged me $100 for the pipe, chrome tips and labor. See my pics of the exhaust in my sig. They are at the bottom of my site.
