Dual exhaust for LEVs¿

I know that the 2001-2002 models are LEV(low emission vehicles), will putting custom exhaust on flag the computer? I checked and there are no O2 sensors past the primary cats. I want to shed 2 of my 4 convertors and make duals. I want a nice low rumble, not the 'hornet in a jar" sound that most 6s get with custom exhausts. Any help will be appreciated.

I've put duals on my SOHC and it sounds great. I used a dual in/dual out flowmaster 50 series. Has a low rumble.

well, cutting off cats is illegal, and if they do an inspection they will notice, especially on a vehicle as new as yours. Honestly, unless they're clogged, the cats aren't a problem in terms of flow.

I am not worried about the emissions police here in La. as my `Stang has no cats and is supercharged and as of yet I have had no problem with inspections. I know that removing them won`t give me breakneck power, but every little reduction in back pressure will help.

That's not true. Reduction in backpressure to a certain point is bad for your 4.0L.

It might hurt the low end a little, but I seem to have enough and would rather have a mid to red line powercurve.

Well i have a 2001 Sport and i have duel exhaust. Your check engine light will come on after getting it put on. I promise this will happen. The only way to stop it is to either unplug the light or get a chip. I'm getting a chip for it. I got it checked out and it said the EGR valve was insuficiant. I guess i could be wrong mine being a 2001 but don't say i didn't warn you. But my exhaust is not like out straight out the back mine goes at and angle behind the back tires. It looks sweet. Are the 98-00 models low emissions vechicles? I believe the 2001 was the first certified LEV explorer, I could be wronnnn...wrrrrroonn...gggh, I could be mistaken!!!
