I was wondering if it is normal for the DVD player (OEM Overhead system) to shut down if I shut off the radio. I was driving the other night and the kids had the system on with their IR headphones and wife and I were talking, I shut off the stereo and they lost the DVD player. Not just audio, the screen went off as well, if I turn the stereo back on it all comes on again..... This makes zero sense to me. Any Ideas?

TIA

completely normal. Ford uses the stereo head unit as a controller for the DVD player. Thats why you can change the volume of the DVD when listening through the speakers. Just turn the volume all the way down while your kids are watching a movie. BTW when you power off the stereo, a loud pop goes through any headphones that are on.

Yep, mine does the same thing, turns it all off. As an option if you have them hit the headphone button it will switch to Dual Mode which allows them to listen to the headphones and movie while you listen to the radio or CD.
