How do I find my Computer's ECU Number on my 99 Ford Explorer Limited with a V8? I need it for a superchip. Also, is superchip better than JetChip since Jetchip doesn't even need your ECU number. Also, why would a chip need an ECU number, wouldn't all ford explorer V8 computers be the same?

Thanks,
-Grant

Grant, they don't all have the same ECU #, I don't know exactly why, but the are not all the same. IMOH...Superchip is better, and others have agreed. To locate the number, it should be near the ECU itself, usually a sticker on the firewall near the ECU, or even maybe on the ECU wire harness, the code should be 3 letters followed by 1 number...like DJJ3...here's a link that can help
http://www.performanceford.com/boxcodes.html

As for why they need them...I think it's a programming update issue. when i got mine they told me that the day they programmed mine a new update came in for the chip...maybe they change with dyno resutls or something???

Oh, and one more thing...welcome to the boards man!
