Has anyone ever interfaced a laptop to the explorer EECIV succesfully? There are
numerous units available for SHO and Mustangs, allowing far more powerful tuning/custom programming than any of the Superchip makers. There's even a tuner at http://acc-electronics.com/cloud/efi/amarch/eec.htm
that you can build yourself!

THe EEC-tuners available aren't any more powerful than a chip, it's all in the progrmaming. Both a tuner and chip are mediums for delivering the programming.

If you have a highly modified explorer (i.e. supercharged) and you are well versed in programming and engine theory, a tuner may be for you. But tuners aren't for everyone, and the software that's out there for programming is not that great and extremly complicated. Also, EEC-IV explorers aren't the most powerful engine control systems, and a lot of the stuff you would want to change with a EEC-tuner you can't for those years, like shift points. All you really get to change is spark and fuel. With the chips we sell, the spark is programmed for MBT, which is the max you can safely run anyways.
