elec 4406 swap

could i use an elec shift 4406 in my truck with the stock shift knob on dash ????
i would like to do this in my 98 ranger with swap but am not going to buy a t/c till i find out if it will work.
some one said that some one had done this but mite need wires changed
any info or direction to info would be helpful

ok thx for the reply so i think i will go with the elec 4406 but now i need to figure out which i want expatiation or f150 & about that GEM thing ????

GEM thing is easy

yours will work if you have control trac 4wd. otherwise the same year/engine explorer
