My electric fan came into day. I am going to attempt to put it on this weekend. Its a 16" with a CFM of 2750, and it only draws 13.4 amps. It looks like the factory shroud can be used with no to little modification. Updates after the install.

I;m going to have to wait until wed. to get it done. The instrutions we were using told us how to take the fan off of the fan clutch. It would seem they assume you already removed the fan clutch from the water pulley.

Did little offroading with my bud yesterday, and most of the roads we drove on to get to the trials are now closed because of all the rain here in NH....and the flooding got me thinking. What can I do to make the 01 ex more water proof? I don't plane on adding a snorkle (not that hard core), but I am more worried about getting water in the tranny then getting water into the intake.

Word of advice, rent and TRY the tool before you drive off from the part store. I wasted a few trips because they kept give me the wrong size to take the fan off. Also remember the threads are reversed (right is loose, left is tight). You'll just remove the whole fan itself, as the clutch is attached to it. You'll just have a stuck left from where the fan and clutch assembly screwed onto.

FYI, they're not all left-hand threads. Whichever way the fan turns normally when the engine is running is the direction you need to turn it to loosen it with the engine not running.

ok here is the question the part of the tool that goes over the 4 bolts does that part go over the screws on the fan or the screws on the water pulley?

FYI, the explorer fan is reversed thread. This is an explorer board, so I'm assuming he's referring to putting the fan on an explorer. Both gen 1 and 2 I had we're reversed.

Jose, they go over the bolts on the water pump pulley

Jose? LOL. Only person that calls me that is one of my supervisors. Thanks for the information.

I'm getting it done tomorrow. One of the GSE mechs here at work said he has the tool. According to him most of them are left threaded so I would assume the one on our trucks is the same.

OMG? I still can't get the stupid thing off! I went the the local autoshop see if they could get it to move. After about 30 min of trying. They said they would need to have it for a while. Its stuck on there tight. I am starting to wonder if I should just forgot about the fan and see if I can sell it or see if I can return it.

It's a pain to get one off, especially if it's been there for a while. I spent a whole day getting the one off my 2000 and putting the flex a lite fan on..

I spent a good 3 hours trying with no results. Its really jammed on there tight. I used a different clutch tool and it worked fine.

the fan does work but I am having troubles with the wiring. The AC clutch overide is having issues. It will work, but not because I turn on the A/C.

Its finally completed. It cools a little better then the oem clutch fan. I was able to use the factory fan shroud so I would assume that is why it cools as well as it does.

Pics? The fan will push more air than any belt driven fan at idle, and at high speed, the relay will cut it off when it reaches a good temp.

I need to wait for a better day to take any pics. They don't come out very well unless I have enoght light outside.

I was not expecting to see a noticible power increase but it is there. Normally I drive mildy but the other day I stepped on it to get on the highway and OMG what a difference. Don't really know what its 0-60 was before but I know it dropped a little. Power increase is nice.

I think I have enoght power adders for now.
