Recently i have been experiencing an electrical issue with my 96 4.0 explorer. Whenever i try and start it after it has been sitting for a while (couple hours-day) it takes a while to start. My battery voltage is low but since i have an optima red top i still am able to start the truck without a jumpstart. i used a volt meter to check the voltage, when off it was 12.33 and 14.29 when on. There is a current draw of 0.40 amps when it is off. Is this enough to drain the battery or is that just the cars computer? i have checked the alternator and it is fine. Might my optima battery be bad, i bought it less then a month ago and this issue started 2 weeks ago.

check to see where the load is drwing form an oh yes .4 amps is defnt enough to drain a battery an those gel deep cycle arent meant to be depleated an brought back much so id start with startr solenoid an then make sure youre grounds good then check your power cables battry ground ect an make sure there not coroded with acid
