Hy i've got a 91 Explorer that is now sitting in a les schwab parking lot that is not running. A ground wire coming off the negative battery cable melted and now every time i put cable back on it arcs, i was told there might be a short somewhere but i don't know where to start or what i'll need. if someone could help that would be great.

That is a serious short. It has to be something that doesn't go through a fuse or the fuse would blow and that eliminates a lot of things. What I would look for would be a shorted starter motor or something in the starter circuit.

Big Arch or not. you will get a little spark when 'making' the negative cable to the battery.

Positive cable under the truck got too hot by touching the engine and exposed the wire which made it contact with the engine. Thanks for the replies. Now I need a new cable.
