Enclosure help

Whoa... Yea Im really liking the ports over the wells. Honestly my only restriction I want is 18 inches height (top of the rear seats). But yea if you wouldnt mind designing one up for me that would be pretty awesome. Thanks Pandora.

Okay, no problem, All I need is your measurement for the cargo area (I ask for a new set of measurements with every enclosure, just to make sure that everything lines up right).

Really, I only need the...
  • Width between the wheel wells
  • Height of the wheel well
  • Width above the wheel wells

And, then with these number, I can get the design running. Since I already know you want to go MAX 18" high, I am going to go ahead and shoot for 17" and then modify the depth of the enclosure from there.

Just to let you know, I will get this drawn up in AutoCAD and then once done, I will host the images for you to see. I generally set it up so you see Cut for Cut on what needs to be built.

So what I got was:

41-1/2" Width between wells
52-1/2" Width above wells
6-1/4" Height of wells

I found this strange but the wheel wells aren't straight, the top is angled... The height given is the highest point so there shouldn't be a problem of it not fitting right.

Thanks Pandora!

Just as update, I think I have gotten a design down.

Both woofers will end up being one chamber at 3.75 cu' with the box tuned to 35.75 hz.

The ports are going to be VERY fun to try and design because they are going to have to bend a bit in order to make them fit (The actual length of the ports need to be 40" each).

The External dimensions came out to be 17" H x 14" D x the 52" W

I will get to designing the Mock-up for this soon. I have a busy rest of the weekend, but I should have it done before the middle of this week.
If anyone wants to try and double check my math, I got the following:
  • Gross Internal Volume: 11152.25 cu"
  • Port Height: 9.75"
  • Port Width: 4.75"
  • Port Depth: 40"
  • Number of Ports: 2
  • Net Internal Volume: 6532.25 cu"
  • Tuning Frequency: 35.75 Hz

I will let you know of the progress in a day or so.

Hey, KC...

Just got some bad news (well good and bad...). My work computer is getting upgraded sometime this week, so I have to go in and remove all of extra software and files. With this goes my AutoCAD program. So, I will not be able to complete the Mock-Up design until my new computer gets here (I would do it from my home PC, but the software I use is Windows based, and I run Linux on all my computers at home).

Sorry, but I will try to complete this as soon as possible. If you were in a hurry, I can try to get hand drawn measurements down and scan them in, but I never was a good artist.

Not a problem Pandora.

I did some port researching and came across "end correction factor".

If my port was say 5x9x35, my end correction factor would be 2.5. My total length is 37.5, 32.5, or just 35 with at least 2.5 units of space at the end? I found JLA's description but Im confused on calculating it to the port length..

Im gonna try to design another box for fun to see if I can do it somewhat properly now. I still dont know much about port velocity but you gave me numbers in earlier posts on a port size I know to work around.

Update on my designing. Same idea of port over wheelwells, but all one chamber with 2 ports.

External (internal):
total height 17" (15.5")
depth 17" (15.5")
top width 52.5" (51")
top height 10.75" (9.25")
bottom width 41.5" (40")
bottom height 6.25" (5.5")

Attached are calculations from PandoraCustoms Port Calculator v1.4

I have 2 different calculations because I am not sure what to classify the port as (slot or open end?)
