Engine Clicking

I have a 94 ford explorer sport and when i drive it for a while or race someone with it afterwords my engine starts making a quiet clicking sound or kinda like drops of water coming out of a sink at first i thought i was burning my oil or something but no burning smell it doesnt seem to affect the ex at all but im curious

P.S. the sound is coming after its shut off

Normal sounds of a hot engine that was just shut off.

You have fluids draining back down into the oil pan, transmission pan, etc. as well as the "clicking" sound of hot metal quickly beginning to contract from its expanded, hot state.
