On the 1/2 hour drive to work, I noticed that my check gauge light was on...and my engine temp was high.....I pulled into the parking lot and smoke was coming outta my engine....or steam??? I looked at the radiator resevior and it was empty....I filled it and the engine temp seemed to stay at the middle of the gauge.....hopefully I did not blow my engine up.......and this is NOT the time for this **** to happen.... :us:

I would say steam. Beyond that, what was your question????

sounds like your thermostat is sticking. dont drive your truck until you replace it.

If it's stuck closed, the fluid won't flow through it and would back up into the overflow resevoir. That's meant for when coolant gets too hot, it moves it's way into the resevoir and when it cools back down it moves back into the engine. If it's stuck open fluid would be flowing through it constantly and would be cooling the engine. Have you checked your coolant levels before?

Someone correct me if you think I'm wrong about this.

Well. I think that the level was just a little low.....like I said, I filled the overflow res. and started up the engine, it gobbled about 1/2 of the water right up and the temp gauge went down to 1/2 way...Normal......hopefully I did not crack the block or something.....I just put a new thermostat on the truck about one month ago so I isn't that.....I will drive home taking the nice flat route and keep and keen eye on the temp gauge as I do so....if for some reason there is damage to the engine, I will get rid of it and buy what I wanted in the first place a black V-8 AWD EX.....
