engine noise

ok this has just been happening recently- whenever i drive my explorer with the a/c on- then turn off my engine for a short period of time and start up my ex again there is a loud humming noise coming from the engine, it only hums when it's idling, not when i'm on the gas and the hum only stays for about 3-4 minutes then it just stops. has anyone had this experience before-if so is it a major problem.

I've had a ton of wierd noises come from my explorer, i just ignore them because i dont want to even bother trying to pinpoint like 3 different noises. as long as everything works for me, im happy. ive grown used to it i guess

run a search for IAC or engine hum or engine whine... Lots of info on your problem. To me, sounds like your IAC is going.
