Hey I have a question and I was wondering if you guys might know the answer. When I drive in overdrive at about 45 to 50 MPH the engine cuts out and sputters but if I go faster or slower it doesn't do it. It also doesn't do that in drive either. I really don't know why it's doing that. Any suggestions?

Maybe, just maybe it's the torque converter soleniod circuit, possible short in the soleniod or the wiring. When the computer tries to energize the circuit at around 45 mph, a short circuit will drain enough power from the computer so it no longer functions properly for the rest of the engine controls.

I agree. It dose sound like it is an electrical problem tied to the tranny and being the over drive is computer controlled that is were to start your trouble shooting. If it was me I would drop the tranny pan and start there working my way back to the ECU. You could get lucky and find it’s only the insulation on the wires of the overdrive solenoid on the valve body of the tranny.
