I have a 2004 explorer and i have a rattling noise that ocurrs between 2800 and 3000 rpm. not before and not after. my local ford dealership has checked it over for 2 days and cannot find the problem. they have tested the torque converter and ruled that out. if anyone has had this problem or have heard of this problem , please offer some info. thanks

Welcome! I would start with the timing chain also.

what engine is it? 4.0 SOHC?

I am having the exact same noise at the same rpm on my 02 4.0 and I havent found out where its coming from.

If it's a serpentine belt engine, check for a broken tensioner.

yea that was the first thing I replaced. I saw that it was vibrating alot so I swapped it out but it didnt fix the problem.

does it rattle only on acceleration?
