Hello everyone. I am planning to pull my engine out to finally do timing on it and doing an engine reseal. I am trying to get prepared. I’ve already bought the engine stand but I don’t know what bolts to get for it. It is making me so frustrated that I can’t find any info on this subject. Are you guys buying new bolts, or just using the bell housing bolts on the engine stand?

Hop underneath and remove one to get bolt size and thread pitch whether SAE or metric. Measure length of stand attachment collar and go from there for your particular mount.

Are you guys buying new bolts
Yes, buy new bolts with equal length and washers. Depending on your stand they should be 90 or 100 mm long.
For our 97 4.0 sohc they have a metric size M10 x 90mm, 1,5 thread pitch and grade 8.8,
20 mm of the thread goes into the engine. The engine stand has 4 original brakets, but i like 6 of them.

Hope your engine has the same thread and good luck.

Your old head Bolts will work as your engine stand bolts you may need some spacers to take up the extra space
