- 2005 Sport Trac XLT
Hey everyone,
My father has a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT with the 4.0L SOHC engine. The truck only has about 14,000 miles on it and has been maintained by a ford dealer until he recently moved in with me here in Dallas from Florida.
He just noticed the other day that when he revs the engine in park that it will surge and not go over about 3000 rpm.
When you drive the truck it runs just fine and will rev all the way to redline without any problems.
It is almost as if there is a fuel or ignition cutout that prevents it from revving over 3000 rpm in park.
Is this normal or is there something wrong?
I have never owned a Ford so I am not sure if this is something normal.
Thanks
Jack
