I've got a 97 5.0 Explorer, not so nice, looking to swap the powertrain to a nicer, newer truck.

Can I use the 97 non-PATS PCM in a PATS equipped truck with no problems?

Are the later model wiring harnesses compatible with the 1997 harness?

Thanks, Robert

what year is later model?
there are some differferences in the wiring, but metal to metal and frame to frame they are the same truck up till 01, so yes it can be done.
Swapping the wiring too is a good idea.

OR just use the 97 block with the later model intakes, etc, then the wiring is not an issue, you are just swapping mechanical parts.

Well, I'm looking at a 2001 4.0 SOHC. I would like to swap the 5.0 into that. I was just wondering if I have to swap out the dash harness to be compatible with the non-PATS
PCM
