Engine Swaps

To start another thread, Im woundering if the 5.0 will work with the transmission that's in the 4.0 SOHC EXPLORER...Bet there's alot to swap out to make it work..Just thinking...With bad head gaskets and maybe cracked heads on our 4.0 it's crossed my mind..Wounder what the dealership would charge to replace gaskets.Then if heads are cracked were in over our head's.Re-built engine verses crate motor? Alot to consider..

It's not a direct bolt on, there are a ton of things you'd also need; a 4r70w tranny/complete wire harness/computer etc etc to swap in even another explorer 5.0

thanks, Figured the trany wouldn't work ..Need another whole parts car to make it work...lol Always had it in my mind that a crate motor was a new un-used factory engine.But looking on-line it seems there also just rebuilt engines.
