Hi there,

I have a problem that my x -98 v6 SOHC Runs just fine from cold but after aprox.
15min of driving the water temp runs from Normal temp to almost red.
As fast as it goes up to red it drops down to normal again.

I have also noticed that the gearchange becomes a bit rougher when it runs in the hot zone.

Could it be the radiator that needs cleaning or is it the waterpump?

i have no leakage, the color of the coolant is fine. The top hose is warm and there is no overflow in the coolant box.

You have a thermostat sticking closed. $17 part including the gasket from any Ford dealership. :)

I agree with gijoecam. You thermostat is your culprit!

Yepp, it did the job, replaced the old one, now shes running at an moderate temperature again.

Thanks for the quick answers.
