evap canaster purge valve

What triggeres the purge valve to open/close??? code 1443... valve works I tested it Thank
Where does the power to open/close the valve come from?????
The hoses are good and not blocked...

P0443/P1443 are fairly common on 95~97 Rangers. These codes are usually caused by split evap hoses or a bad Purge Flow Sensor, rarely by a bad Purge Solenoid. The Purge Flow Sensor comes with some hoses as part of a ~$100 assembly. The hoses and PFS are located near the carbon canister which is behind the DS headlight area.
