EX newbie

Hello all.

Just picked up a 1991 Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. It has a few issues so I'm here to learn. I've been "searching" for a while and I'm sure I'll be searching some more as the days go on...

The EX is a 2 door LX with power locks/ windows/mirrors.

The issues: Blown engine ( looking for replacement - think I have one.)

Door panels- passenger is good but driver is cracked to hell. (Need to find a black or tan door pull as well as a "sport" (long door) driver's side door panel in tan.

I'll post up in the parts wanted section...

Is there anything else I should be looking at/ reading? Any advise is appreciated...

Good luck finding the the engine. Finding a good 4.0 shouldn't be a problem. They're strong motors.

I've found a few engines but I'm not too sure about what the pricing should be at. I had one local company quote me $1300 to rebuild my engine + $900 to install. I had another quote me $600 for a used engine and I've used an installed in the past for $200. I just want to make sure I put the "right" engine in the ex. BTW, is there an upgrade such as a v-8? that I can do for the same price?
